Lady Starlight was a performer Gaga had a relationship with during that time. Vince Herbert signed Gaga to Streamline Records in 2007 after performing at Lollapalooza Festival. Gaga signed a publishing agreement with Sony/ATV following her time as an apprentice to songwriters at Famous Music Publishing. Gaga was commissioned to write music for Britney, Fergie, New Kids on the Block, and the Pussycat dolls. At Interscope, singer-songwriter Akon recognized her vocal abilities when she sang a reference vocal for one of his tracks in studio; Akon then convinced Interscope-Geffen-A&M Chairman and CEO Jimmy Iovine to form a joint deal by having her also sign with his own label Kon Live, making her his "franchise player. Gaga's 2008 debut album, 'The Fame' received only moderate radio airplay. She was on tour Europe and the US to promote the album. But it was not until the 2009 hit 'Just Dance that mainstream pop music really started to flourish. Gaga was suffering from a labral injury to her right hip. She had been keeping it under wraps for several months hoping to be capable of continuing her tour. After her performance in Toronto Gaga became unable to walk and was in extreme pain. She was taken to the hospital and her tour was cancelled.
